
Australian Colourstrings Teacher Training
Violin/Viola pedagogue workshop participants will experience:
- How to establish violin/viola set up and posture, appropriate and relaxed playing positions
- Balanced bow hand/bow guiding, developing different bow techniques like spiccato and staccato, sound quality
- Left hand set up and principals, intonation and inner hearing– sequential development
- Rhythm taught sequentially and purposely-strategies for teaching in private lessons, small group lessons
and ensembles
- Phrasing and musicality
- Musical talent-what is it? Different layers like deliberate practice, interest and support from home,
an inspirational environment, extrinsic and intrinsic motivation.
- Gender: discussion and research on when girls and boys learn differently
- Chamber music/group teaching possibilities
- Hands on demonstrations with young students from beginner to advanced- masterclass sessions
- Practice: The Art of Practice and how to teach it
